eBay Announces It’s Own Affiliate Program

Powered by Gregarious (42)

eBay Partner NetworkI received noticed today of eBay’s new global affiliate platform, The eBay Partner Network. The new platform is going live on April 1st, 2008 PST. Any of you affiliates using eBay ads from Commission Junction will need to sign up on the new platform and switch all of your links over. Is this a drop-dead switchover date? No, thankfully they’ll be running the two programs in parallel for one month. This means you have until May 1st, 2008 PST to make the change to all your links.

The new platform is supposed to add these great new features:

  • Easy global registration to multiple countries simultaneously
  • New, targeted banners and rich media creatives
  • New landing page optimization and geo-targeting capabilities
  • More detailed reporting capabilities for eBay’s programs

Plus as an added bonus for early adopters you can get an additional 5% for all traffic tracked through the eBay Partner Network in April 2008! So hurry up and make the switch. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Register with eBay Partner Network on April 1, 2008
  • Confirm your registration, and obtain your new identifiers
  • Update your links with your new identifiers.
  • Reminder: Please plan to complete migration by May 1, 2008.

To find out more hurry on over to http://affiliates.ebay.com.

Using Ma.gnolia Bookmarks For Blog Backlinks

Powered by Gregarious (42)

You have all heard of (and used I hope) about the online bookmarking and tagging services such as del.icio.us, stumble and digg by now right? Well these offer a great way of giving your blog entries a kick start on traffic, especially if you have built up a decent friends network on any of those services.

If you haven’t seen this one then I’d like to introduce you to a bookmarking service called ma.gnolia. It is very similar to all of the other services in that you can bookmark things, tag things, have friend networks, yada-yada-yada. One thing to note is that the interface has a very sleek Web 2.0 look and feel, but other than it’s pretty much the same. Well… almost.

The one thing the I liked about this service is that it gives you a blog interface to display your bookmarks to the world! This is what my ma.gnolia bookmarks blog looks like. While setting up your account it even gives you time to run over to Technorati and claim your new bookmarks blog, then gives you a place to enter the embedded claim code to make it all legit. Cool! Now if I bookmark one of my blog posts using my ma.gnolia account it shows up as another blog referring back to my blog entry. Not only is this a straight up backlink, but it helps as a blog link in Technorati’s authority ranking as well.

Extra credit: If you are using FeedBurner (and who isn’t?) then there is a Ma.gnolia FeedFlare widget in the catalog. So you can have this right along side your posts on the site and in your feed ready to go. This has the added benefit that if anyone else using this service happens to bookmark you using the widget… kudos!

Link Building Quick Link

Powered by Gregarious (42)

Link building and networking is a lot of what we do to build up a site’s reputation and page rank. It brings visitors to the site which is always good. Anyway you look at it, some portion of your time should be spent in this activity.

I found this interesting article on how not to build links and thought I would share it with you.

New Domain Online

Powered by Gregarious (42)

I started out this weekend with the goal of splitting out my SEO and money making blog entries from my main blog (franzone.com – thoughts of a web geek) into a separate subdomain with its own feeds and whatnot. This would be to remove the money making posts from my other technical type posts and family & parenting posts which tends to just confuse the ad rotations.

However, in the process I came up with the name you see now, the newly formed Mouse Engine Optimizer! Since the domain was available I figured I’d go ahead and spring for the $5. You can read why I chose that particular name on the About page.

Of course I still have a lot of work to do to get listed in all of the appropriate blogging communities and directories. There is also the long long process of waiting for Google PR to build and Alexa rank to build, but I have time and patience… and hopefully a new job soon. ;)
